Update on Randy Orton’s return to WWE

Randy Orton has been out of action in the WWE for more than a year now. Fans anticipated Ortons return at Wrestlemania, but later it was revealed that Randy Orton is not 100% ready to make an in-ring return.

Randy Orton last competed on May 20, 2022, against The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Titles. Riddle and Orton failed to defeat the Usos despite their best efforts. Randy Orton has been out of in-ring action since then. Orton underwent a fusion surgery after which he has been resting at his home. Recent pictures of Randy Orton reveal that he is in a good shape to make a return soon.

Since the announcement of WWE Draft 2023, some positive updates have been coming regarding Randy Orton’s in-ring return. In his SmackDown address, Triple H said that every superstar would be available for the WWE Draft 2023. Unless specifically indicated otherwise in the upcoming flagship shows, even those who are hurt or absent will be a part of them. This gives a clear indication that Randy Orton would be part of that draft which is scheduled to take place in coming weeks. It will be interesting to watch if Randy Orton is drafted to SmackDown or RAW.

It is speculated that WWE Draft would take place on May 8 edition of RAW following the Backlash Pay-Per-View Event. Randy Orton could make a comeback at Backlash and support his tag team partner Riddle against The Usos. This could build up to a feud between The Usos and RK-BRO in future.

WWE would require Randy Orton to return as soon as possible given that major star like Roman Reigns will be taking a break till SummerSlam. WWE would need a popular face like Orton to take the centre stage.
